The Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at the University of Rochester is seeking to hire a tenure-track or tenured faculty member in the area of cognitive neuroscience. We are primarily interested in candidates who use fMRI and other MRI techniques to study basic processes in one of the focal areas of research in the department: natural language processing, developmental plasticity and learning, or visual perception and visual control of action. 12/23/2011 Full Prof., Brain Imaging and Cognitive Neuroscience at the Institut de Neurosciences de la Timone - Marseille - France

The Institut de Neurosciences de la Timone (Marseille, France) invites applications for a new faculty position at the Full Professor level, starting in the fall 2012. We are seeking applicants with a strong track record in brain imaging, in particular functional MRI, and a specialization in cognitive neurosciences (e.g. motor control, perception, emotions and reward..). The successful candidate must have established himself/herself as a junior or senior group leader. He/she will be expected to set his/her own research group at the Institute and maintain an active, extramurally-funded research program. He/she will be also expected to take the scientific leadership of the 3T fMRI Center affiliated to the Institute (http://irmfmrs.free.fr/) and which serves as a brain imaging platform for neuroscience research at local and national levels. The Institut de Neurosciences de la Timone (INT) is a new research laboratory launched by the CNRS and Aix-Marseille Université. The Institute has just moved into a new 5000m2 building located on the Medical School campus, next to the University Hospital. The INT hosts seven research teams (i.e. about 120 Faculty, Technicians and Students members) covering different fields of integrative neurosciences, from spinal and cortical motor control to low- and mid-level visual perception and regulatory systems of cognition (emotion, reward). Different levels of nervous system organization are investigated from cellular to behavioral neuroscience and experimental psychology. Strong scientific relationships are expected between the different teams, leading to new collaborative projects to be supported by the Institute or by the french funding programs. The present call is part of a broader strategy for opening three teams in 2012-2013, the two others positions targeting young scientists in in vivo photonic imaging and non-human primate neurophysiology, respectively.

The successful applicant will be able to develop his/her research project with the help of the technical resources at the Institute. In particular, our 3T fMRI Center is operated by three full-time CNRS engineers and is entirely devoted to neuroscience research. Strong interactions are expected with the other brain and biomedical imaging facilities located on the same campus, either within the INT (in vivo photonic imaging in rodents and NHP) or within other CNRS and University laboratories (CRMBM, CERIMED, U751). The Timone Campus offers a unique access to different brain imaging techniques (3T MRI, PET-MRI, MEG...) in fundamental and clinical neurosciences.

The University of Edinburgh has announced a number of prestigious positions called Chancellor's Fellowships. These are initially 5-year Fellowships, but subject to satisfactory review at the end of 3 years, the Fellow will move to a permanent academic post. Appointees will be able to concentrate on research in the first instance, acquiring the full duties of University Lecturer across the period of the Fellowship. These prestigious awards are aimed at early career individuals of the highest potential who have begun to establish a reputation for the highest quality research at the forefront of their discipline and who have a commitment to learning and teaching at university level.

One of the priority areas for Chancellor's Fellowships is Computational Cognitive Science. The Department of Psychology at The University of Montana-Missoula invites applications for two full time tenure track positions at the assistant professor level, one in CLINICAL and the other in COGNITIVE Psychology, to begin August 2012. Applicants must have a Ph.D. (or ABD) in their area of specialization, evidence of scholarly productivity commensurate with experience, potential to establish and maintain a program of research, and evidence of excellence in teaching. In addition to specific duties listed below, faculty members are expected to mentor and supervise undergraduate and graduate students in their research projects. The specific areas of research specialization for both positions are open but research interests that complement the current specialty areas in the department are desirable.

CLINICAL POSITION: We are looking for a clinical psychologist with primary clinical interests in psychological assessment. Candidates who have completed the specialization in clinical neuropsychology are strongly preferred. Duties will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in assessment, psychotherapy interventions, ethics and other clinical courses as well as supervising assessment and ongoing clinical cases in an outpatient setting. Candidates must have graduated from an APA accredited program and must be license eligible in Montana.

COGNITIVE POSITION: Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate courses in cognitive psychology as well as undergraduate courses in statistics and history and systems of psychology.

The department consists of 23 full-time faculty members, offers the B.A. degree in psychology, specialist level training (M.A./Ed.S.) in school psychology, and the Ph.D. degree in school psychology (APA eligible), clinical psychology (APA accredited), developmental psychology and animal behavior. New faculty members are provided research support including lab space and reasonable teaching responsibilities. Salary is competitive in the region.

The Basque Center on Cognition Brain and Language (San Sebastián, Basque Country, Spain) offers research staff positions in several areas: language acquisition, production, multilingualism, neurodegeneration of language, language and learning disorders, neurocognition of language and advanced methods for cognitive neuroscience. The Center promotes a rich research environment without teaching obligations. It provides access to the most advanced behavioral and neuroimaging techniques, including 3 Tesla MRI, a whole-head MEG system, four ERP labs, a NIRS lab, a baby lab including an eyetracker, two eyetracking labs, and several well-equipped behavioral labs. There are excellent technical support staff and research personnel (PhD and postdoctoral students). The positions have a term of appointment between 3 and 5 years with the possibility of a tenure track.

We are looking for cognitive neuroscientists or experimental psychologists with a background in psycholinguistics and/or neighboring cognitive neuroscience areas, and physicists and/or engineers with fMRI expertise. The Brain Circuits Laboratory at the University of California, Irvine is searching for an accomplished Ph.D. level scientist with knowledge of functional brain imaging and cognitive or systems neuroscience to assume a position as a senior scientist focusing on the neurobiology of language and motor function.

The Brain Circuits Laboratory focuses on investigations of the fundamental neurobiology of language and motor systems, and their breakdown in disease. Our work puts special emphasis on mathematical and computational modeling of imaging and physiological data.

We are in need of a scientist who has completed a postdoctoral fellowship in systems, cognitive, or computational neuroscience, with serious interest in fundamental neuroscience questions about language and/or motor function. Candidates with a strong background in mathematics or statistics are particularly encouraged to apply.

All work involves using functional MRI, DTI, event-related EEG, sleep EEG, and/or TMS to study the human brain and to uncover the underlying mechanisms of neural processing of language and/or motor systems in health and disease. This position will be funded by a combination of the National Institutes of Health, the McDonnell Foundation, the University of California, Irvine, and/or other funds. Of course, candidates with independent funding will be given special consideration. This is a non-tenure track faculty position in the Department of Neurology, and comes with an initial period of guaranteed funding.
