BCS 111: Foundations of Cognitive Science

Prerequisites: None
Offered: Fall, Spring

Required or recommended for:

BCS Majors: This course is one of the two foundation courses and is required for the concentration.

Psychology Majors: Beginning Spring 2000, Psychology majors are advised to take BCS/PSY 112 and not BCS 111 as one of the two natural science core courses for the PSY concentration.
Students cannot receive credit for both BCS/PSY 111 and BCS/PSY 112.

About this course:

BCS 111 introduces the organization of mental processes underlying cognition and behavior. Topics include perception, language, learning, memory, and intelligence. The course integrates knowledge of cognition generated from the field of cognitive psychology with findings from artificial intelligence and cognitive neuroscience.
