BCS 264: Signed Language Structure

Prerequisites: ASL 105, LIN 210, 220, or 226; or permission of instructor

About this course:

An examination of signed languages and the cognitive constraints that shape them, through a detailed consideration of the structure of American Sign Language and other natural signed languages of the world. Includes training in sign language notation and analysis. Knowledge of sign language is not required, but students must complete either ASL 105 or a 200-level course in linguistic theory before taking this class.
