BCS 270: Psychological Perspectives on Deafness and ASL

Prerequisites: BCS 111/112 or ASL 101 or ASL 200/BCS 264
Offered: Spring

This course will explore the impact of deafness and using a sign language on human behavior. Topics to be covered will include, but not be limited to, visual perception, language acquisition, acquiring literacy in a written language, and psychological assessment. In all of these domains we will examine how deafness and signing both influences an individual's psychology and the field of psychology itself.
