Sample Programs in Neuroscience
Beginning in Fall 2011, the department will no longer be offering its own statistics course (the old BCS 200). Students will fulfill the statistics requirement for the major by taking STT 212. Multiple sections of that class are offered in both Fall and Spring semesters.

Second Year
- Fall
- NSC 201/BCS 240 Basic Neurobiology
- CHM 203/207 Organic Chemistry I or CHM 205/209 Organic Chemistry I (Honors)
- STT212 Applied Statistics for the Biological and Physical Sciences I (replaces BCS 200 in Fall 2011)
- Spring
- NSC 203/BCS 203 Lab in Neurobiology ** †
- CHM 204/208 Organic Chemistry II or CHM 206/210 Organic Chemistry II (Honors)

Third Year
- Fall
- PHY 113 General Physics I***
- Spring
- PHY 114 General Physics II***
- Both:

- NSC Elective or BIO Diversification or Cluster (or Independent Research or Other)
Fourth Year
- NSC 301 in the fall or 302 in the spring; Seminar in Neuroscience (2 credits)
- NSC Elective or BIO Diversification (or Other)
- Cluster (or Independent Research or Other)
- NSC Elective or BIO Diversification or Cluster (or Independent Research or Other)
*MTH courses must be satisfied before taking the Physics courses. Physics is calculus based.
**TAKE NOTE: Time conflicts will not allow students to take both NSC 203 and PHY 114 in the same spring semester.
***Pre-Meds should take Physics BEFORE taking the MCAT to be prepared properly. The MCAT is generally taken in the
junior year around August or April.
†NSC 201 and STT 212 are required before entering NSC 203.
