For now this page will be just a list of useful little helpers as they come in.
TGrep2 related tools
- Manual - Be sure to study Doug Rohde's manual (PDF file).
- Scripts - I have developed a set of PERL scripts, the TGrep2 Database Tools, that make the collection of
corpus data with TGrep2 a lot more convenient.
- Tutorials -
- Pattern files - here are a couple of pattern files (the input for TGrep2 searches) I used to extract properties of relative clauses.
The patterns describe the syntactic structures that you want to search for:
- Macros - I strongly encourage the use of macros with TGrep2. The make it a lot easier to keep track of the patterns you use
for a larger project. For example, my database of relative clauses uses far over 50 pattern files. Often one finds mistakes in the original
patterns. Instead of having to change all pattern files (which usually is a mess!) you can just change the definition of the macro that the
other files use. Also, the use of macros makes long patterns a LOT shorter. Below is an example.
