After having completed my PhD at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Bath in the lovely, rainy England under the supervision of Alwyn Barry, I am now a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Rochester in the Department of Brain & Cognitive Sciences, working in Alexandre Pouget's lab. I am originally Austrian, and began studying Architecture at the Graz University of Technology. Unsatisfied with that decision, I changed my path after some years, and my quest for new challenges lead me to the University of Reading, UK, where I completed a degree in Intelligent Systems at the Department of Cybernetics... and that's about all there is to know about my educational choices.
Currently, I'm only in Rochester about half of the time, and the other half I tend to spend at the Group for Neural Theory at the Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS) in Paris, France. Not only does that allow me to work more closely with Alex Pouget, who is currently there on sabbatical, but also to spend more time with Odali Sanhueza (I've put her name there to get her more hits on search engines :-)), who currently lives there. Also, Paris has a fantastic offer of live music and modern dance performances that I enjoy attending while I'm there - particularly Jazz, Alternative, and lots of other types of music (see my last.fm profile). And last but not least there is also great food and lots of cheese.
While in Rochester, I enjoy reading and going to the cinema, particularly The Dryden Theatre and The Little. Besides that I like visiting new places all over the world, and so far I have seen selected locations in most of Western Europe, the north of Africa, Australia, Mexico, Peru, Argentina, Chile, Cuba, some bits of the USA, and other places that I probably forgot to mention. Asia is still a big blank space on my map, but I hope to be able to change that soon.
That's enough for now, but if you feel adventurous, you can visit my Facebook page at
