Classes I've Taught or TAed

Fall 2010 and Spring 2011
I was awarded a Breadth Fellowship through the College Writing Program to develop and teach a themed freshman writing course. The course I developed uses the problem of translation as a launching pad for exploring questions about language, the mind, and AI through writing and research. Our readings are drawn from philosophy, cognitive science, artificial intelligence, current news, and even science fiction. I taught one section of this course in the Fall, and am teaching another section this Spring. Enrollment: ~15 students/semester.

Summers 2010 and 2011
I taught a 6-week long discussion-oriented version of our Development of Mind and Brain course during the Summer session in both 2010 and 2011. Enrollment: ~6 students

Spring 2009 and 2010
Prior to teaching BCS 172, I TAed it for two semesters. Enrollment: ~100-140 students/semester

Fall 2009
I taught the second half of this introductory course, focusing on higher-level cognition: Concepts, Language, Judgment, Reasoning, and Theory of Mind. Enrollment: ~100 students

Fall 2008
I was the TA for our undergraduate statistics lab. I helped teach students how to use SPSS for data analysis, assisted students in developing research projects, and supervised 2 weekly lab sessions. Enrollment: ~90 students

Tutoring

Fall 2008-present
I am a Writing Consultant at the College Writing Center. For a few hours a week, I meet with students at all levels and all stages of the writing process, and work to help them become better writers.
